Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what data peel-ed collects, why we use it, how deletion works, and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing is:
Akalin Güney
Privacy contact: akalin.gueney@gmail.com
2. What peel-ed does
peel-ed summarizes public videos and channel updates from YouTube links you provide or save in the app. Video playback remains with YouTube. peel-ed does not download, save, convert, or redistribute YouTube audio or video, and it does not access your private YouTube account, watch history, contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
3. Data we collect
- Account data: user ID, sign-in provider, email address if provided, language preference, and plan status.
- Content data: public YouTube links, channel or playlist identifiers you save or request, and generated text summaries.
- Device and notification data: app installation identifiers, platform information, notification tokens, and notification settings needed to send app notifications.
- Purchase data: App Store subscription status, product identifiers, entitlement status, and transaction or subscription identifiers needed to activate paid plans and support purchases.
- Support data: feedback messages and optional screenshots you choose to send, plus basic app and device details needed to understand the issue.
- Security and diagnostic data: limited technical information needed to keep the app reliable, secure, and protected from abuse.
4. Local data
The app stores some data on your device to keep peel-ed fast and usable, such as sign-in state, language preference, cached summaries, saved Feed items, read state, and recently loaded App Store prices. You can clear local Feed and Express cache in Settings.
5. How we use data
- to provide sign-in, summaries, subscriptions, language settings, and account features,
- to send notifications and respond to feedback or support requests,
- to enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and protect the service,
- to operate, debug, secure, maintain, and improve the app.
6. Legal bases
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: providing the app, sign-in, channel management, summary generation, account display, and requested features.
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: push notifications and optional feedback screenshots, where you actively enable or submit them. You can withdraw consent with future effect.
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: security, abuse prevention, rate limits, error analysis, monitoring, availability, fraud prevention, and infrastructure protection. Our legitimate interest is operating a stable and secure app.
- Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR: legal retention obligations where they apply, for example App Store purchase and tax-related records.
7. Providers and recipients
We use service providers only where needed to operate peel-ed. These providers process data only for the purposes described in this policy.
- Authentication and notification providers: to support sign-in and push notifications.
- Video and summary providers: to retrieve public YouTube information and create text summaries. Account IDs, email addresses, and notification tokens are not used for summary generation.
- Payment providers: Apple processes App Store purchases. peel-ed does not store payment card data, Apple ID passwords, or full payment details.
- Operations and support providers: to host, secure, maintain, and support the app.
peel-ed uses YouTube API Services for public YouTube information. By using features that interact with YouTube content, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's privacy practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
8. Tracking, ads, analytics, and App Store labels
peel-ed does not sell personal data, does not show ads, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not include a client-side advertising analytics SDK. We collect limited operational and abuse-prevention information to keep the service reliable and secure.
9. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA, especially in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on EU adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or comparable GDPR safeguards.
10. Retention
- Account, settings, notification, and support data: kept until account deletion or until no longer needed for the feature or request.
- Channel, video, summary, usage, and diagnostic data: kept as long as needed to provide the app, enforce limits, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability.
- Purchase and entitlement records: kept as long as needed to activate paid plans, support restore flows, prevent fraud, handle support requests, and meet legal duties.
- Operational records: retained for a limited operational period and then deleted or replaced through routine rotation.
11. Account deletion
You can request deletion directly in the app under Settings > Data & Privacy > Delete account. We delete your peel-ed account, saved links, personal settings, notification data, feedback reports, screenshots, and related personal app data from active systems.
12. Automated decisions
peel-ed does not make automated decisions under Art. 22 GDPR that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects for you. Tier and quota limits are applied automatically to provide the requested app service and prevent abuse.
13. Children

- rectification of inaccurate data,
- deletion of your data,
- restriction of processing,
- data portability,
- objection to processing based on legitimate interests,
- complaint to a data protection supervisory authority, especially in the EU member state of your residence, workplace, or the alleged infringement.
